Bulgaria is famous for its skilful craftsmen and unique products of art.

For centuries some crafts have been developed and brought to perfection. The ancient Traki were very skilful goldsmiths and at recent times we can admire the collection of gold products of art in Golden Treasures of Traki.

Nowadays in Trakia region where Pazardzhik is situated are developed: woodcarving, pottery, icon painting, knitting and producing of wine .

But Bulgarians are unique in creating the following products of art:

1. ‘Martenitsas’ which can be seen only in our country in spring. There are thousands of patterns of ‘martenitsas’ and it’s quite amazing how of a thread in two colours–white and red- such products of art can be created!
2. Kukeri Masks, that are produced fro a special celebration called ‘Kukeri Dances’. The art of creating such a mask is taught from generation to generation.
3. In spring every Bulgarian woman dyes eggs for Easter and in some regions like Velingrad, this art of decorating eggs with wax-pencil before they are coloured is brought to perfection and real art. Everyhostess has her own design and pattern of decorating Easter eggs.
